Its principal objective has been the development of a comprehensive understanding of partial melting of the Earth’s mantle through coupled experimental, geochemical and textural analysis of partial melts and their associate minerals.

The aim has been to obtain quantitative information from both experimentally produced and naturally occurring melts and to use these constraints for modelling the physical, chemical and textural interactions of minerals and melts in the Earth’s mantle, and the consequences for volcanism at the Earth’s surface.

The Abstracts and Papers produced in the frame of the EUROMELT project [Jun. 15 (2002) - Dec. 15 (2005)] are listed in the following.
